What types of veterinary surgeries do you provide?

We perform the following operations here at Hartzel:

  • Spays and neuters
  • Dental extractions
  • Foreign body/growth removal
  • Orthopedic surgery – fractures and dislocations
  • Soft tissue procedures
  • Wound repair
  • And more!

Can I be with my pet during their surgery?

Unfortunately, no. We treat our patients as if they were human patients. In order to maintain a clean and secure environment, we cannot allow clients inside our surgery suite during live operations. Please know we will provide you with as many updates as we can throughout the surgery.

Is anesthesia safe for pets?

For the overwhelming majority, yes. We perform intensive testing beforehand to ensure your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia, and to know the exact amount required for their body. Our registered veterinary technicians will monitor your pet’s vital signs all throughout the procedure. We do our best to keep pets as comfortable as possible. For example, depending on their surgery, we may even place a clean blanket on them to keep them warm (anesthesia can make some patients feel cold.)
